Federal government has weight problem

Editor, The Commercial:

The following is a true story:

I have a friend who once received a call from his banker. The banker said; “We’ve got a problem. You’ve gone over your credit limit.” My friend responded; “That’s no problem. Just raise my limit!” What my friend spoke in humor Congress actually does today.

Our federal government has a credit weight problem and is on two diets because they can’t get enough to eat on one! When it comes to money management, our federal government concept is; “Don’t worry about the mule going blind, just keep loading the wagon!”

Something has gone “haywire” since yesteryear. Then Democratic President John F. Kennedy said; “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country!” Today under Democratic President Obama and Congress, it’s ask your country for houses, food, cell phones, insurance, contraceptives, abortions and life without work for able bodied “grasshoppers.”

We used to teach the wisdom of a great American. Perhaps if Congress listened to a few of his historical quotations it might help:

“Rather go to bed without dinner than to rise in debt.” “Creditors have better memories than debtors.” “Those who won’t be counseled can’t be helped.”… Benjamin Franklin

Can I get an Amen?
