Don’t let Pine Bluff become another Gould

I mean no disrespect to Mr. Sam Whitfield, but I don’t believe Ivan Whitfield should be considered for interim police chief until he cleans up the image of wrongdoing when he was fired by then-Chief Brenda Davis/Jones.

His city issued weapon was found at a questionable location. A lawsuit was filed and some serious allegations against the chief were made and never answered to the people’s satisfaction. Maybe some people forget these things but some of us don’t. He retired, then changed his mind and made an unsuccessful run for judge. He can’t seem to make up his mind. Just because Mr. Redus said he investigated by himself and proved to be untrue does not mean it is so. I for one wouldn’t believe him if his tongue came notarized.

Mayor Hollingsworth does not see color when she looks at us, she sees people that want to go in a new direction. She sees people that want to work together for the betterment of our city. She sees a qualified man in Jeff Hubanks … that can lead our police department. The policemen respect and like him. They have confidence in him that was lacking in the past chief 50 peercent of the people see a leader in Mayor Hollingsworth.

I ask the council to work with her. Look what the city of Gould has done to themselves because they did not work together. The constant bickering between them have all but destroyed their city. Don’t let us become another Gould!
