Residents urged to participate in events

Editor, The Commercial:

According to Saturday, July 27th edition of The Commercial, August 7th will be a day of excitement and rejuvenation for our Central Park Area! This is the day our SAFE Team and others will converge upon our neighborhood to help us clean up our area and begin turning our community around. I’m asking all residents from Hickory to Hazel streets, between West 13th and 22nd avenues to be on the “ready” when we knock on your door.

If you attended our “Taking it to the Streets” rally in Central Park, you know that when we come together, we can accomplish anything in our communities. So let’s first make plans to come out Tuesday evening, August 6, for our Annual National Night out at the Pine Bluff Convention Center and share some ice cream with our Watch Group, and then on Wednesday, August 7 at 9 a.m. be prepared to help beautify the City that showed you such a good time Tuesday night!

And once we get our area clean and beautiful, please make plans to attend our monthly Neighborhood Watch Meetings every first Tuesday, at 6 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church on the corner of 16th & Hickory. Pastor Don Taylor, Bro. Robert Tollison and their beautiful church family open their doors to us every month, and I think to show our appreciation, we could at least have a full house every meeting.

Let’s get our area clean and when you begin attending our monthly meetings, let’s plan on having community events in our area every few months or so. After all, we are the Neighborhood Watch Group “with a heart.” See you all Tuesday, August 6 and Wednesday August 7. Mark your calendars … I’ll be looking forward to seeing you all!
