William Knight

William Dean “Bill” Knight, age 86, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Knight was born December 1, 1926, in Malvern, the son of the late Felix Dan Knight, Sr. and Nora Ethel Thompson Knight.

Mr. Knight was reared and educated in Little Rock, where he graduated from Central High School. He also attended Little Rock University (now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock).

He was a member of the Hazel Street Church of Christ and had worked for the Armour-Dial Corporation as a salesman for forty years, before retiring at the age of 72.

He had also been a longtime volunteer Chaplain for the Arkansas Department of Corrections at the Tucker unit.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel Penney; and three brothers, F.D., Ronald and Roger.

Mr. Knight is survived by his wife, Evelyn Emmons McBroom Knight, whom he married May 19, 1976, in Pine Bluff; two stepdaughters, Mary Patterson of North Little Rock and Evelyn Marie “PeeWee” Creacy of Pine Bluff; stepson, E. A. McBroom, Jr. of Star City; one grandson, Jason Penney of North Little Rock; step-granddaughter Paige Carman of North Little Rock; five great grandchildren; one brother, Lewis Thompson Knight and wife, C. D., of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Hazel Street Church of Christ by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Evangelist Roger Gean officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.
