William Dunham, Jr.

HOUSTON, Texas — William Louis Dunham, Jr. (Bill), a guitarist who was a shining light in the world of music, died at peace in the loving hands of God on October 11, 2012, in Houston, Texas. He was 68.

Bill was born in Pine Bluff, Ark., on May 18, 1944, son of William Louis Dunham and Lois Carrah Tarpley. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. After graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1962, Bill continued his education at Henderson State Teachers College and Little Rock University. In 1967 he served in the Arkansas National Guard for 7 years. After retiring from playing with an extensive list of great musicians around the world, Bill was a PADI Open Water Scuba Master Instructor and a hyperbaric chamber technician specializing in wound care at the Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center in San Antonio, Texas.

He is survived by his mother, Lois Forsythe, four sisters, Carrah, Gwyn, Judy, Jane, his daughter, Tracy Dunham, and his cat, Big Red. Beloved by all, Bill’s humor, kindness, and compassion will be greatly missed by a rich legacy of family and friends across the nation.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Pine Grove Baptist Church, 2504 East Dixon Road, Sweet Home, Ark., on November 10, 2012 The Sweet Home Community is a place of Bill’s family roots dating back to c. 1850. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
