Wilbur Thad Jacks, age 78, of Pine Bluff, passed away January 31, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born November 6, 1934 in Rowell, Ark., he was the son of the late Thomas William “Tom” and Mellie Linzy Jacks. He grew up and received his education at Glendale.
Wilbur started his career as a baker for Holsum Bakery, and retired as a supervisor after 43 years of service. An active member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, he thoroughly enjoyed singing specials in church, gardening, and spending time with his family. He thought the world of his two granddaughters.
Mr. Jacks was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Beverly Jacks; and two sisters, Jewel McCoskey and Lula Mae McBryde.
Wilbur married Patsy McCoskey on August 13, 1953 and they were inseparable for their entire 59 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, DeWayne Jacks and wife Jennifer of Woodlawn; two granddaughters, Laura and husband Brandon Lyon of Monticello and Leah and husband Dusty Williams of Woodlawn; a brother, Bennie Jacks and wife Margaret of Glendale; and four sisters, Zelma Rita Stuckey of Sheridan, Hazel Rodgers of Arp, Texas, Mary Parker and husband Bobby, and Carolyn and husband Toby Simmons all of Pine Bluff.
Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday beginning at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, with the funeral services following at 3:30 p.m., Brother Neil Quick and Brother Nathan Petty will officiate. Interment will be in Harmony Cemetery by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
