CHOWCHILLA, Calif. — W. C. “Lum” Walter of Chowchilla, Calif., died September 23, 2012, at Fresno, Calif.
He was born May 22, 1925, at Samples, to Hartwell Daniel and Annie Billingsley Walter.
Lum was reared and educated in White Hall.
He joined the United States Marines during World War II. After the war he returned to Pine Bluff, where he worked at Central Moloney before moving to California and retired as a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; his parents; three brothers, Costello, Henry and Dan Walter; four sisters, Lucy Cannon, Hartie Bost, Louise Waddle and Josie Graves.
Lum is survived by his daughters, Annie (Cullen) Laminack of Lubbock, Texas, Linda (Earnest) Silvery of Pine Bluff, Shelia Elkins of Tucker, Loretta (Mike) Hickerson of Tucker; brothers, Bud Walter of McGehee, John Walter of Texarkana; a sister, Cathern Hubbard of Pine Bluff; four grandsons; four granddaughters; eight great-grandsons; eight great-granddaughters; a great-great-grandson and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Palm Memorial Worden Chapel, Chowchilla, California.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2012, Palm Memorial Worden Chapel.
Burial will follow in Chowchilla District Cemetery.
