Mrs. Vhaness Dalton Henderson, 83, of Pine Bluff, transitioned from life Wednesday, December 26. She was born February 7, 1929, to the late Ulysses Grant Dalton II and Alma E. Rogers Dalton in Tamo, Ark.
She was the second oldest of four children born to that union.
Mrs. Henderson attended public schools of Jefferson County and graduated from Merrill High School. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Arkansas Agricultural, Mechanical and Norman (A.M.&N.) College, now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Further education was pursued at Ball State University where she received a Master’s Degree.
Her enhanced skills, genuine love for teaching and desire for excellence in student achievement provided the foundation for 36 years of dedicated service to school districts and students served. She worked for many years in the Altheimer and Pine Bluff School Districts. After relocating to St. Louis, Mo., she continued to pursue her love for teaching, educating students within the Normandy School District where she later retired after 26 years of additional service.
Mrs. Henderson confessed hope in Christ at an early age through the Baptist denomination and continued strong beliefs as she maintained her faith, carried infectious joy in her spirit and shared God’s love through caring for others. You were friend indeed if you were a friend indeed if you were a friend indeed if you were blessed to be called “friend.”
When she loved, she loved completely. Her students have testified that there was no disorder in her classes; she cared enough to require that they do well and they did.
In addition to loving her students and her profession, she received great joy playing piano, cooking, photographing family and friends, and developing scrapbooks. For many years she also served the community through membership in Pine Bluff Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
