Mrs. Sallie Bailey Toney, age 99 of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, November 17, 2012.
She was born July 28, 1913 in Nevada County, to the late Allen Bailey and Hattie Erby Bailey.
She married Clyde N. Toney, Sr. on January 20, 1939. The family moved to Pine Bluff in 1945 where they joined the Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church.
In 1963, Mrs. Toney continued her education at the A.M. & N College. She served as the director of Tiny Tots Childcare Center for 11 years. She was a homemaker with a passion for sewing and cooking.
Mrs. Toney was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron for the Harmony Chapter #40 for thirty years. She was a member of the Social and Arts Club and the NAACP, Pine Bluff Chapter.
Survivors are her husband Clyde Nelson Toney, Sr.; three sons: Clyde Nelson Toney, Jr. of Chicago, Ill., Joe David (L’ Tanya) Toney of Fresno, Calif. and Frederick M. Toney of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren: Kimberly Toney of Los Angeles, Calif. and David Fanon (Lisa) Toney of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren: Dominic Toney of Redwood, Calif., Chase Alexander Toney and Rhys Collin Toney of Washington, D.C.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 26 at Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church, 1201 N. Magnolia, Pine Bluff, by Rev. R.W. Alexander. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
Visitation/Family Hour: Sunday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The body will lie in state at the church from 10:15 a.m. until time of service.
The family will be at 2402 West Fluker Avenue, Pine Bluff.
