Ruth Johnson


DUMAS — Mrs. Ruth Shavers Johnson, 87, of Dumas died Monday, February 25, 2013 at her home.

Born November 13, 1925 in Gould, she was a daughter of the late William and Amanda Keranghan Shavers. She was a member of Holy Temple COGIC in Dumas where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Jake W. Johnson, Sr. of Dumas; three sons, Jake W. Johnson, Jr. of Dumas, Elmer Johnson of Hawthorne, Calif., Harold Johnson of Chicago; five daughters, Patricia Johnson of Dumas, Evelyn Johnson, Glenda Johnson both of Chicago, Eunice Johnson of Apopka, Fla., Carol Adenuga of Pompano Beach, Fla.; 20 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Holy Temple COGIC in Dumas with Elder Edward Gaston officiating. Burial will be in Banks Cemetery in Mitchellville by Brown Funeral Home of Dumas.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Friday at the Funeral Home.

The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
