Rosie Lee Tate, age 89, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, July 18, 2013.
Rosie Lee Tate was born March 12, 1924, in Moro, Ark., to the late Edward and Beatrice Nevils Pitts. She received her education through the Arkansas Public School
System in Lee County. Rosie Tate confessed hope in Christ and united with church in Moro, Ark. at an early age. She married John William Tate, Sr. After his death she moved to Pine Bluff, Ark. and united with the Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Reverend W.M. Fame until the present pastor, the Reverend Jim L. Fisher,Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband John William Tate Sr., one sister Leomia Pitts Creer, and four brothers, Frank Smith, Mathrone Smith, Tucker Pitts, and Earl Pitts, and one grandson, Alvin Lee.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Willie Beatrice (Johnny) Lee, and Maggie Lee (Earl) Abram both of Pine Bluff, Ark.; four sons, John William Tate, Jr., Larry (Georgia) Tate, Donald (Billie) Tate, all of Pine Bluff, Ark., Joe Willie (Loretta) Tate of Camden, S.C.; two sisters, Lula M. Tate of West Memphis, Ark. and Lucenda Thomas of West Helena, Ark.; a nephew Arthur Shaw of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a loving granddaughter Tonya McNeary who cared for and attended to her in her latter years; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty four great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 3700 West 13th with the Reverend Jimmy L. Fisher Sr., officiating.
Interment will be at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the P.K. Miller Mortuary.
Rosie Tate will lie in repose at the Greater Mount Calvary Church on Saturday from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the service.
Family will be at 4119 West 12th Avenue.
