Mrs. Pauline Mickens, 75, of Pine Bluff, Ark., passed from this life on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Pine Bluff.
She was born November 10, 1937, on Sacks Place near Wabbaseka’s Scatters’ Road to the Late Johnnie and Sophia Williams of Altheimer.
She was a former member of the Jerusalem No 1 Missionary Baptist Church, Altheimer. During her membership she served as secretary for the Central District Baptist Association Congress and a teacher in the Mission Society. She later joined the Northside Seven-Day Adventist Church, formally the Ephesus SDA Church of Pine Bluff. She was an avid Bible Worker and served as the Personal Ministries Leader until the time of her departure.
She was preceded in death by One Son, one grandson, five brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, James Mickens, of Pine Bluff; one son, Johnny Mickens of Dallas, Texas; six daughters: Evelyn Franklin, Jamie Johnson and Brenda Bennett of Pine Bluff, Ark., Debra Mickens of Silver Spring, Md., Patricia Lenox of Dallas, Texas, and Sophia Lewis of Arlington, Va.; one sister, Dorothy Hunter of Altheimer, Ark., 20 grand-children and 19 great grand-children; some cousins and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, February 15, at 11:00 a.m. at the Northside Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 5603 Hosley Street, pine Bluff. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Services are entrusted to P.k. Miller mortuary Inc. A valentine’s Day Vigil will be held at the P.K. Miller Mortuary Chapel, 204 East 2nd Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, from 4:30 to 7:30 with the family program beginning at 5:30.
