Osea Cash


MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mrs. Osea Brown Cash, 87, widow of Aaron D. Cash, retired cosmetologist and homemaker, went home to be with the Lord on June 01, 2013. She was known throughout the Pine Bluff Community affectionately as “Mother Cash”. She was born February 15, 1926 to Willie and Mary E. Williams at Sicily Island, La., the last of seven children. All of her other siblings preceded her in death.

She confessed a hope a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Salem M.B.C at Sicily Island. In 1961, she joined New Morning Star and remained an active and faithful member until she moved to Memphis with her daughter and health begin to fail. She received her formal education in the public schools of Sicily Island and graduated from Rosenwald High School. She attended Grambling University and Kansas University at Topeka, Kan. In 1948 she graduated from Scotia’s School of Beauty at East St. Louis, Ill.

Besides owning and operating Osea’s Beauty Shop, she also worked a short time for Ark. Area on the Aging and Lloma Linda Nursing Home. She worked a number of years as a poll worker for the Jefferson County Election Committee. She was a member and did volunteer work for the local ACORN Organization. She also sold vegetable produce for several years at the Farmer’s Market.

She was known for her kindness in reaching out to help those in need. Her doors were always open to family, friends, and strangers. They could get a hot meal and even a place to stay. She was a blessing to many and touched many lives.

She leaves to cherish her memories; Sons, William “Snap” Brown and David “Sugar Bear” H. Brown III; and daughter, Pastor Osea “Joy” Creggett West and son-in-law, Jonathan West with whom she resided; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Wake will be Friday, June 14, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the church.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 12 noon at New Morning Star M.B.C., Pastor Don Agee, Officiating.

The repast will immediately follow in the Family Life Center.

Burial will be Monday, June 17, 2013 11:00 a.m. at the Veteran’s National Cemetery 2523 Confederate Blvd., Little Rock, Ark.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Eternal Light Funeral Home of Marianna, Ark.
