WHITE HALL — Vivian Goad Rogers, age 83, of White Hall, died Thursday, May 24, 2012.
Born August 28, 1928 at Chicago, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Graves Goad and Luna Mae Linson Goad and graduated from Altheimer High School, She was a member of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church, where she worked as church secretary from 1970-1987. After her retirement, she worked part-time as secretary at Second Baptist Church from 1998-2007.
Mrs. Rogers married Jimmy Rogers, Jr. on October 26, 1956, and he predeceased her on February 24, 1987.
Her survivors include three daughters, Debbie Brattan (Andy) of Ward, Ark., Lynn Word (Steve) of Bearden, Ark., and Sammie Sheftic (Dana) of White Hall; a brother, Milton Goad (Shirley) of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Lucy Nannie (George) of Carlisle, Ark., Linda Chappell (Bobby) of England, Ark., and Pam Williamson (Nick) of Texarkana, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Mark Word, Drew Word, Tracy Langdon, Steven Word, Andrew Word, Matthew Word, Rebekah Word, and Lindsey Wingard; and six great-grandchildren;
Visitation will be beginning at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Rogers’ grandsons, Steven Word, Matthew Word, and Andrew Word will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Matthews Memorial Baptist Church.
