Russell Matlock

ST. LOUIS — Russell Lee Matlock of St. Louis, Mo. passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, April 25th, 2012 after waging a brave battle with cancer. Russell and his twin brother, Ross, were born on August 5th, 1958, to Leo and Ethelene Matlock in Pine Bluff, Ark. He was a 1976 graduate of Watson Chapel High School and graduated from UCA with a degree in business. Russ spent his career as a Sales Rep and District Manager in the pharmaceutical industry, first for Wyeth, and most recently for Inventive. As a mentor for many entering the field of pharmaceutical sales, he was highly regarded and well-liked, both as a ‘boss’ and as a friend. He was a member of Ballwin Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed working out, riding his Harley and spending time in activities with his family. Russell was preceded in death by his father, Leo Matlock; and brothers, Ross and Stephen Matlock. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn; two daughters, Amanda Atkins and Allie Matlock; a son, Seth Matlock (Lydia); and grandson, Noah Matlock, all of St. Louis. Other survivors are his mother, Ethelene Matlock; parents-in-law, Jim and Mary Ann Bloodworth all of Conway, Ark.; grandmother-in-law, Jewel Dean Boswell of Camden, Ark.; sisters, Tana Pointer (Harold) of Pine Bluff, Ark., Melissa Knight (George) of Houston, Texas and Kathy Owen (Johnny) of Conway, Ark.; brothers-in-law, Sam Bloodworth (Tonya) of Russellville, Ark. and Dan Bloodworth (Dana) of Conway, Ark. and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Ark. Even though Russell has lost his battle with cancer, as a born-again believer, he has won the victory eternal.
