Laura Parker


STAR CITY — Laura Jacks Parker, 95, of Star City, died Friday at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. She was born February 6, 1917 in Lincoln County to the late Alphew and Cornelia Owen Jacks. She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She was the owner and operator of several fast food restaurants over the years.

Also preceding her in death were her husband, Homer Parker; son, Bill Parker; daughter, Beth Prescott; great granddaughter, Madison E. Prescott; 5 brothers, Holland, Havis, Glen, Homer and Calvin Jacks; and two sisters, Florence Chance Cook, Ola Mae Wagner.

Survivors include two sons, Bob (Chris) Parker of Star City, Barry (Joy) Parker of Piketon, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Betty Parker of Star City; two sisters, Mina Haynes of Star City, Edith Axley of Pine Bluff; seven grandchildren, Billie Edwards, Alan Parker, Dana (Johnny) Bennett, Sean (Angel) Prescott, Garrett Parker, Barry Parker II, Amber Parker; five great grandchildren, Jaci Edwards, Kendall Edwards, Hunter Bennett, Samantha Precott, Kayla Blesengame; great-great grandchild, Hazen Blasengame; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Star City. Bro. Bill Hilburn will officiate. There will be no formal visitation. The family will gather at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall after the service.
