RISON — Juanita E. “Sally” Harris, 86, of Rison, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Green House Cottages in Rison.
Mrs. Harris was born August 7, 1925, in Kingsland, to the late Beverly Barnett and Jesse Franklin Knowles. She was reared and received her education in Kingsland, where she graduated from Kingsland High School.
Juanita E. Knowles married Mack Milburn Harris on June 15, 1946, in Pine Bluff. Mr. Harris passed away on January 13, 1963.
Mrs. Harris worked for Davis Hospital in Pine Bluff for many years as a nurse’s aide. She had also worked for the LeBuff Brothers Towing Company as a river cook, before retiring. She was a member of Dollarway Baptist Church.
Her survivors include three sons, Robert Harris of Kingsland, Danny Harris of Raceland, La., and Virgil Harris of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Glenda McAfee of Kingsland and Judy Harris of Kingsland; a sister, Jo Ann Hall of Kingsland; 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by three sisters, Anita Knowles, Jane Kuykendall, and Elmyra Weynandt and one brother, Benjamin Knowles.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2012, at Robinson’s.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Mt. Elba Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Elba ( also known as Graves) Cemetery in Cleveland County.
