HARDIN — Barney Lee Taunton, 79, of the Hardin Community, Pine Bluff, Ark., died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at his home.
He was born September 7, 1932, in Strong, Ark., to John and Clara Jointer Taunton.
He was reared and educated in Strong and Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School.
Mr. Taunton served in the United States Army, retiring after 20 years of service.
He had also worked for the Corp of Engineers.
Mr. Taunton was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Wesley Taunton.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Phillips Taunton; a son, Kevin Lee Taunton of Little Rock; daughters, Karen Cross of Little Rock, Sharon O’Neal of the Hardin Community; a brother, Roy Taunton of Morrilton; sisters, Corrine Means of Pearcy, Carolyn Goodfield of California; grandchildren, Elizabeth Vaught, Jonathon Cross, Joshua Wilkerson, Justin Cross, Jason Wilkerson and Klayton Taunton.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Robinson’s.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son.
Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan.
