Ms. Marie Owens-Trotter was born in Muskogee, Okla. to Elizabeth –McArthur Tibbett and Jack Tibbett. She passed away peacefully at her home among those who loved her at age 98. Ms. Trotter lived a full and accomplished life. She valued hard work and sought to make her world a beautiful place.
Ms. Trotter was a talented seamstress who sewed for the public for many years. She had a long working career that included Baim’s, Dillards and was owner of Camelot Grocery for many years. She also spent twenty six years of her career as a butcher at Hestand’s grocery, retiring at age 83. Ms Trotter was a talented gardener and homemaker who enjoyed preparing large holiday meals for friends and family.
She was a member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church for many years. At age 98, Ms Trotter continued to be a strong and independent woman who had a passion for living each and every day.
Ms. Trotter was preceded in death by her two husbands, Frank Daniel Owens and Lee Trotter; two sons, Frank Edward Owens and Ralph Truman Owens and one grandson, Michael Owens
She is survived by a daughter, Alice O. Williams of Brentwood, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Linda Owens Cole (Danny) of Pine Bluff, Deborah Williams Cavanaugh (Sam) of Franklin, Tennessee and David Williams (Pam) of Minnesota; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 11 am at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with a Memorial service to follow with Reverend Jimmy Herring speaking. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
