Lynn Gaines, Jr.


Lynn Nathaniel Gaines, Jr., 82, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Gaines was born June 14, 1931 in Camden, son of the late Lynn Nathaniel, Sr. and Sarah Jane Mullens Gaines. He was reared and received his early education in Camden and Fordyce, graduating from Fordyce High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Gaines worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad for 44 years. He loved volunteering and genealogy. Mr. Gaines was a National Service Volunteer, life member of the Arkansas Historical Association and Sons of the American Revolution. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Baresch Gaines, whom he married December 30, 1959 in Fordyce; son, John William Gaines of Pine Bluff; and three sisters, Virginia Lee Hutchinson of Arkadelphia, Betty Emily Gaines of Camden and Rebecca Alice Sexton of Camden. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Greenwood Cemetery in Camden with Reverend Dusty Rhodes officiating by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors in Pine Bluff.
