Louise Jones, 77, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born February 2, 1936, in Rison, she was a daughter of Alvie and Ruthie Simmons Coats.
Mrs. Jones was reared and received her early education in Rison and Pine Bluff. She was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School where she played basketball. She also played third base on the World Series softball team.
Dorothy Louise Coats married James Jones on August 24, 1957, in Greenville, Mississippi.
Mrs. Jones was the office manager for Smart Chevrolet for fifty years. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Jones was an avid golfer and bowler.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, James Jones; two brothers, Leon Coats, and Eddie Coats; one niece, Lea Ann VonTungeln.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy Lee and Sissie Jones of Pine Bluff; one grandson, Tanner Lee Jones of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Clara Hammonds of Lago Vista, Texas, and Nina Gentry of Farmington, Mo.
The visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Gary Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery in North Little Rock at a later date.
