Johnny Carl Simmons, age 59, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Simmons was born December 7, 1953, in Baumholder, Germany, a son of the late Percy Leon and Melba Dean Simmons.
He was reared and educated in Pine Bluff where he attended the Pine Bluff schools.
He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and worked at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in the Motorpool Department as a master mechanic.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking care of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Johnny Carl Simmons, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty Marie Roberts Simmons, whom he married August 10, 1973, in Pine Bluff; two daughters, Sabrina Marie Simmons Hurst (Richard) and Miranda Lurice Simmons Bunting (Caleb); two sisters, Joan Louise Hammond and Jenice Diane Blevins (Ed); two grandchildren, Richard Hurst, Jr. and Noah Hurst and a host of nieces and nephews, all of Pine Bluff.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Rev. Neil Quick officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson’s Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m.
