McALESTER, Okla. — Joel Edward Davis Sr., 75, of McAlester, Okla., previously of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2013, with his daughters by his side.
He was born September 16, 1937, to David Davis, Sr. and Annie Mae Massey Davis in Pine Bluff, Ark.
He was a carpenter by trade and was a self-employed contractor for many years.
Mr. Davis was Pentecostal born and raised. He was a member of the Church of God and served as a minister in his younger years.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Sue Davis, whom he married in 1971; son Scott Davis; brothers Starlin and Horace Davis; sisters, Effie Brantley and Gladys Odell Hawkins; and twin grandsons, Brad and Chad Davis.
He is survived by three daughters, Joy Renee Davis, of McAlester, Okla., Theresa Cash, and Pamela Kay Jenkins; son, Joel Edward Davis, Jr.; sister, Mary Slayden; brothers, Albert Davis and David Davis, Jr.; granddaughters, Ashley and Brandy; grandson, Joel Edward Davis, III; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and close friends.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at Lee Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Mr. Davis will be in state Sunday afternoon at Robinson’s. Friends may sign the online register at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
The family will meet at the home of Lacy and Darlene Cothran, 5506 Kilcrease Road, Pine Bluff following the service.
