MONROE, La. — Jewell Roberts Dillard, 89, formerly of Altheimer, Ark., passed away, Saturday, April 20, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center, Monroe, La. She was born October 12, 1923 in Coy Ark., to the late Rev. James and Mariah (Matthew) Roberts.
She was raised and educated in Altheimer, Ark. She was a dutiful member of Jerusalem #1 Missionary Baptist Church, she later joined the United Church of God.
A Farmer, 4-H Club Den Mother, and supervisor for the Altheimer Head Start Program, she enjoyed gardening, traveling to see the world and to visit family.
Her most treasured accomplishment was to successfully raise eight children. She was a community builder, and entrepreneur. In 2005 she moved to Rockford, Ill., to live with family.
Her Parents, Husband, Coleman Dillard Sr., Sister, Rosetta Ridgel, and Brothers, James Clifton, and Odell Roberts preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons; Coleman (Shirley) Dillard, Jr. of White Hall, Ark., Clifton Dillard of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughters; Dorothy (Archie deceased) Robinson of St. Louis, Mo., Barbara (Walter) Ruben of Alexandria, Va., Jereline (Leonard) Tims of Monroe, La., Sandra (Terry) Morton of Indianapolis Ind., Evelyn (James) Thrower of Camden, Ark., Phyllis (Patrick) Johnson Boise, Idaho and sister Junetta (the late Leon) Bolhen of St. Louis, Mo., A dear niece; Janice L. Roberts of Pine Bluff, Ark., and a host of grand and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m. at William Dove, Sr. Memorial Chapel at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff by Rev. Fred Nance.
Visitation will be Friday, April 26 from 4-7 p.m. with a Family Hour/Visitation from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Memorial Garden by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
The family will be at 5501 Greensward, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
