James Brown

WHITE HALL — James T. “Jim” Brown, 85, of White Hall, died Thursday, July 11, 2013.

He was born August 19, 1927 in Jefferson County, son of Frank and Hazel Hankins Brown.

Mr. Brown was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff.

He was past vice president of the Hardin Water Association and served as assistant Chief of the Hardin Fire Department.

Mr. Brown was a member of Hardin Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Martindale Brown; his parents; daughter, Peggy Brown Royse; and sister, Doris Ann Vanlandingham.

Survivors include his granddaughter, Katherine Whitmire of Pine Bluff; two great-grandchildren, Chandra Whitmire and Aaron Royse, both of White Hall; and caregiver, Reverend Dennis Owens of White Hall.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Johnny Taylor and Reverend Dennis Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Hardin Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3-5 p.m. at Robinson’s.
