SHERRILL — James “Jake” Robinson, 85, of Sherrill, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013.
Born December 15, 1927 at Conway, Ark.,he was a son of the late William Robinson and Myrtle Polk Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was a long time member of the First Baptist Church at Sherrill,
where he had previously served as deacon and as a Sunday school instructor.
He was also a member of the Big “D” Hunting club and was instrumental in forming the Sherrill Volunteer Fire Department and served as its first Chief.
Mr. Robinson retired after 40 years of service as a John Deere farm equipment mechanic, having worked with the J.W. Benefield Company, The Elms Planting Company,
and Farmers Tractor & Equipment Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Frances Lee Carter Robinson on March 7, 2013; four brothers, Arlis, Earnest, Boyd and Loyd Robinson; and three sisters, Thelma Clement, Bronnie Ruple, and Pauline Webb.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly McPherson; sons, Ronnie Robinson (Susan), and Steve Robinson (Debbie); four grandchildren, Leslie Hallum (Justin), Bradley Robinson (Brittney), Micah Lock (Jessica), and Stefan McPherson; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Annabeth, Caleb and Carleigh; and many other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill with Pastors Chris Foster and John Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Mulberry Cemetery at England by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
