J D Studdard, 88 of Pine Bluff, died peacefully Friday May 24, 2013 in the presence of his loving wife of nearly 70 years. J D was born at Kedron, Arkansas Easter Sunday, April 12, 1925 the second of two sons of David Narcot and Katie Vail Dyson Studdard. He was a lifelong resident of the Watson Chapel community graduating from Watson Chapel High School in 1943. He was a long time member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church and of the White Sulphur Lodge # 122. He began his work career at Ben Pearson Company before being employed by the Cotton Belt Railroad as a crane operator from which he retired in 1963.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Pete Studdard.
He married Vera Edna Waters October 2, 1943 who survives him. They had one daughter Margaret Hart (James) of Mesquite, Texas, 3 sons: Dr. James D. Studdard (Dotty) of Little Rock, Ronnie B Studdard (Susan) of Pine Bluff, Dr. Daniel M Studdard (Jan) of Tulsa, Okla., a sister-in-law, Vivian Studdard, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and many other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Reverend James Conn. Burial will follow in Good Faith Cemetery with Masonic rites.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 27, 2013, at the funeral home.
