RISON — Mrs. Helen Shalmy, 94, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in Pine Bluff.
Born September 8, 1918, in Rison, she was a daughter of Roy S. and Vivian Evelyn Barnes Parker.
Mrs. Shalmy was reared and received her early education in Woodlawn. She was a 1936 graduate of Woodlawn High School. Clara Helen Parker married Lewis Shalmy in 1944, in Lake Village. Mrs. Shalmy was a secretary at the Pine Bluff Arsenal for over forty years. Miss Helen was a very loving and thoughtful person. She supported many charities and was a cheerful giver.
Mrs. Shalmy was a long-time, and faithful member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, and also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Mrs. Shalmy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis Shalmy; one sister, Marguerite Butler.
Survivors include one sister, Kathryn Reed of Pine Bluff; many cousins and friends.
The visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Pam Estes officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son.
