GOULD — Helen Gasaway Johnson, 96, of Gould, Ark., passed from this life June 12, 2013, in Dumas, Ark. Mrs. Helen was born April 5, 1917, in Swartz, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late Claud and Rachel Hoyt. Mrs. Helen was a member of Dark Corner Christian Church and Missionary Society and also taught Sunday school. Preceding her in death were Ray Gasaway and Ralph Jonson, four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include sons, Shelby Gasaway (Brenda), Clint Gasaway all of Gould, Ark., Herman Gasaway (Sharon) of Star City, Ark., Benny Gasaway (Jerry) of Redfield, Ark., and daughters, Nancy (Charles) Vines, Brenda Crain, all of Little Rock, Ark., Rayetta (Jerry) Lavitte of Gould, Ark., one brother, Guy Hoyt of Star City, Ark., and two sisters, Mary Alice Holloway of Tyler, Texas, and Sue McGregori of Pine Bluff, Ark., 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Visitation held 6-8 p.m., Friday, Griffin Funeral Home. Services held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013, Dark Corner Christian Church with Rev. Tom Bowlby officiating followed by interment in dark Corner Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her memory to Dark Corner Christian Church, Gould, Aransas. Arrangements are by Griffin Funeral Home, Dumas, Arkansas.
