Harvey Evans


Harvey A. Evans was the second of three children born to Earl and Mildred Evans. He was born on October 29, 1950 in Pine Bluff, Ark. Harvey was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Baptist Church and was active in the Sunday School program.

Harvey graduated from Merrill High School in Pine Bluff in 1968 and received a BS degree from University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in 1978. During the time he attended college, Harvey managed Evans and Son’s Catfish farm in Moscow, Ark., for his father.

Harvey moved to Oakland, California in the summer of 1978 and received a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University in 1980. He worked for AT&T Lone Lines in San Francisco until 1983, when he began an interesting and exciting career path that included owning his own company and doing consulting in the United States and Latin America.

From 1987 to 1995, Harvey was President of Corpdecor in Oakland, California that provided fine art related items to corporate and institutional clients. From 1998 to 2003 Harvey was the director for Whalen Do Brazil in San Paulo, Brazil which provided project management for the wireless network industry. Harvey loved living in Brazil and continued to spend time there until recently.

Harvey had a real zest for life. He enjoyed music, good food, and having a good time with friends and family. He got special joy from helping others and encouraging them to live their dreams. His caring and kind spirit will be greatly missed.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Earl Evans. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Evans, two brothers Earl and Homer Evans, sister in law Beatrice Evans, aunts Jacqueline Smith and Julia Grant, uncle Dr. Homer Myles and wife Evangeline Myles, nieces Nichelle Evans, Jacqueline Evans, and Lauren Evans, nephews Earl Evans III and Homer Evans, great nephew and niece Caleb Evans and Lauren Evans and a host of cousins, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the P.K. Miller mortuary. Graveside services will be conducted at Graceland Cemetery immediately following the visitation.
