Gloria B. Neal, 91, of Pine Bluff passed Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Matthew H. and Genevieve Bowles. Born in Central, Louisiana, January 8, 1922, she lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she attended school and went on to marry the late Dr. Norbert R. Davidson, Sr., and have two children. In the following years, she met and married the late Crawford C. Neal, Jr., moved to Pine Bluff, and had one son.
While working at A.M.&N College (now UAPB), she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education and went on to become a teacher in the Pine Bluff School District. She taught at Gabe Meyer and Southwood Elementary schools. She earned a Master’s degree in education from Ouachita University during her 28 years in the school system. After her retirement from the Pine Bluff School District, she taught at St. Joseph Catholic School.
She is survived by one sister, Genevieve Walker of Philadelphia, Pa.; Three children, Norbert R. Davidson, Jr. of New Orleans, La.; Linnie M. Locklear of Chicago, Ill., and Crawford C. Neal, III., of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Lori A. Locklear, Melvin B. Locklear, Myron D. Locklear and Leslie C. Locklear and one great grandchild, Justin T. Locklear.
The rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at the P.K. Miller Mortuary.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Warren Harvey celebrating.
