Ms. Flora Mae “Flo” Smithwick, 88, of Pine Bluff, passed away, Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Trinity Village Medical Center.
She was born April 4, 1924, in Pine Bluff, daughter of the late Claude James “C.J.” and Martha “Mattie” Elizabeth Adams Smithwick. Flo grew up in a singing family, singing in quartets, trios and duets with her brothers and sisters in many churches.
She was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff and was a 1942 graduate of Pine Bluff High School. She attended Fuhr School of Business, afterwards working as an accountant/bookkeeper. She worked in various places, including ten years for Graves Brothers General Contractors and lastly,
treasurer for Pine Bluff Production Credit Association, retiring from P.C.A. after seventeen years of employment.
Flo spent her life in dedication to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who became her healer in 1932. She was a very active member of First Assembly of God Church, Pine Bluff, a choir member and soloist for many years. Flo would say her most fulfilling work was teaching Sunday school for sixty years, retiring with a special day of recognition and award from the church.
