BATESVILLE — Mr. Ernest Lechner, 86, of Batesville died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at his home.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio on Saturday, December 11, 1926 to Ernest A. Lechner and Anna Louise (Pautz) Lechner.
He was a retired electrician having worked for 34 years for International Paper. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Macile Lechner, for 61 years before her death in 2010. Ernest loved to read history and trace his family roots. He was a great story teller, liked woodworking. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a Presbyterian. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Richard Lechner and his wife, Mary Ann of Scottsdale, Arizona; a daughter, Kathy Kelly and her husband, Edward of Batesville; five grandchildren: Amy Harder and her husband, Shiloh; Blake Kelly and his wife, Erika; Christina Zimdars; Lindsey Peel and her husband, Brandon, and Chase Lechner; four great-grandchildren: Chloe Harder, Evan Harder, Cooper Peel and Taylor Peel; sister, Elsie Harris and her husband, Tommy of LaGrange, Ga.; a brother-in-law, James Kelly and his wife, Carolyn of Lindale, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Macile Lechner; a daughter, Connie Zimdars; a brother, Richard Lechner; and a sister, Edith Reese.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
