Emma Young

Mrs. Emma Nell Musgrove Spriggs Young, 87, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

She was born, December 25, 1925, in Pine Bluff to Charles Henry and Nellie Dorotha Jacks Musgrove.

She was a Pioneer of Alaska, having lived in Anchorage and Delta Junction, Alaska, for 20 years, before moving to Houston, Texas, where she lived for 23 years before returning to Pine Bluff.

She retired in 1984 as a manager from McDonald’s while in Houston.

Mrs. Young was a life member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Ezra Spriggs; a daughter, Villis Walstad; a son, Kenneth Spriggs; her parents; her second husband, James Derwood Young; her brothers, Odie, William, George and Charles Musgrove and a great-grandchild, Miracle Mora.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Montanez (Emilo) of Kingman, Ariz.; a son, David Spriggs (Kimberly) of Pasadena, Texas; a daughter, Pauline Raya (Jose) of White Hall; David Walstad of Lubbock, Texas; sisters, Fannie Underwood of Anchorage, Alaska, Daisy Turner (Francis) of White Hall; brothers, Ernest Musgrove of Glendale, Eugene Musgrove (Ann) of White Hall; a sister, Dorothy Terry (James) of Mesquite, Nev.; grandchildren, Therran Walstad, Sean Walstad, David Spriggs, Jr. and his three children, Monica Cecil, Paul Spriggs, Marcella Durastanti; great-grandchildren, Justin Mora, Maygan Mora and Emma Durastanti.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson’s.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2013, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Edward Demery officiating.

Burial will follow at Musgrove Cemetery.
