STAR CITY — Mrs. Elizabeth Couch Barthet, 98, of Star City, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Gardner Nursing Center in Star City, Ark.
Born January 20, 1914, in Magnolia, Ark., she was a daughter of the late George “Buck” and Kate Milner Couch. As a girl she moved with her family to Noble Lake Farm and she attended grade school at Noble Lake. She was a 1932 graduate of Pine Bluff High School.
In 1935, she married Charles Harold Barthet. They spent over forty years together until his death in 1976.
Mrs. Barthet was a loving wife, mother and homemaker, spending her days caring for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed patio gardening and was a member of the Bridge Club.
She was an active member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher, a Circle Leader, a Neighborhood Chair Person, and a Member of United Methodist Women and often took recordings of weekly sermons to shut-ins of the congregation.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Barthet; one sister, Terry Couch Mead and one brother, T.C. Couch.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Barthet, of Star City; and her son, Rowland Barthet, of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Reverend Pam Estes and Reverend Mary Susan Hilliard officiating by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
