Edward Gray


Reverend Edward I. Gray, 86, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, May 2, 2013.

He was born September 16, 1926, in Cleveland County, son of J.W. “Jim Burt” and Virgie Pierce Gray.

Reverend Gray was reared and received his early education in Watson Chapel. He served in the United States Army during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. Reverend Gray earned the Purple Heart during his tour of duty in the Army. After his tour with the Army, Reverend Gray attended Ouachita Baptist University.

He ministered to three different churches, including Girard Baptist Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Oakland Baptist Church and Dollarway Baptist Church, both in Pine Bluff.

Reverend Gray was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Bouricand Gray, whom he married December 22, 1951, in Pine Bluff; two daughters, Sandy Owen (Roy) of Pine Bluff and Karen Guenther (Forrest) of Sheridan; four siblings, Juanita Parker, Charles Gray and Louise Anderson, all of Pine Bluff, and Reverend Horace Gray of Hot Springs; five grandchildren, Ryane Sorey, Curenda Moseley, Andrea Guenther, Gregory Guenther and Lauren Guenther; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2013, at Bellwood Cemetery with Reverend Horace Gray officiating by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. There will be no formal visitation.
