David Bryant, Jr. was born to David and Lillian Lee-Bryant, June 15, 1921. He was the first of seven children.
David received his early education at the Arkansas City Colored School. He later attended A.M.& N. College in Pine Bluff where he graduated with a degree in electronics.
At an early age he confessed a hope in Jesus Christ and became a member of the St. Andrew Missionary Baptist Church in Arkansas City under the leadership of Rev. Cary Seals. He was Sunday School Superintendent.
On May 24, 1942, he was united in marriage to Ms. Rosie Lee Bryant, to that marriage eight children were born. David Bryant Jr., and Cloyce A. Bryant (both proceeded him in death; also a step son, Lester Wilson proceeded him in death).
In 1976 he married Lena Mae Edwards.
He served in the army during WWII for three years reaching the rank of Corporal.
After returning from service, he started a business repairing tv’s and radios and other electronic devices.
He relocated to Oakland, Calif. in 1966 working for BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) for 33 years without missing a days work.
David departed this life October 26, 2012 at the Veteran Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.
He leaves to morn his passing six children William (Carrie) Bryant, Pine Bluff, Ark., Sandra Horn, Artis (Joyce) Bryant, Rita (Robert) Robinson all of Arkansas City, Shirley (Paul) Smith, of Tillar, Ark., Darryl (Jeanette) Bryant of McGehee, Ark.; one step daughter Dorthea Bates, of Alameda, Calif.; two brothers William J. Bryant of Pacoima, Calif., John (Pearl) Glover of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Tina Glover of Pine Bluff, Ark.; 30 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren, three special care givers, Martha Jackson, Louise Round, and Marian Boggs.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the C.B. King Auditorium in Arkansas City, Ark. with The Rev. Cleo Thomas, officiating. Interment will be at the Memorial Garden Cemetery in Arkansas City, Ark., with services entrusted to the P.K. Miller Mortuary. Visitation is from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Mr. Bryant will lie in repose at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
