Charles Pierce


Mr. Charles W. Pierce, 85, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, March 29, 2013.

He was born November 26, 1927 in Bossier City, Louisiana, son of Thurman and Leona McCalfee Pierce.

Mr. Pierce was reared and received his early education in Mabelvale.

He served 30 years in the United States Marine Corps.

After retiring from the Marines, Mr. Pierce worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer and radio operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Mona Johnson Pierce, whom he married November 2, 1970 in Shreveport, La.; two sons, Robert Pierce of Pine Bluff and Ronald Pierce of East End; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverends Billy Burks and Mark Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Fitzhugh Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Robinson’s.
