Alton Lloyd “Jack” Johnson, age 93, of Pine Bluff, died March 20, 2013, at the residence of his daughter. Mr. Johnson was born April 20, 1919, in Shoal Creek, Arkansas, a son of the late John Coy and Gracie Mae Dodson Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was reared and received his education in Shoal Creek, where he attended the Shoal Creek schools.
He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Pine Bluff and a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U. S. Army as a Military Policeman. One of his duties while serving was to ride the ammo trains. He was a Co-founder of the Pine Bluff Saddle Club, a member of the Jefferson County Coon Hunters Club and AARP. He enjoyed watching the boxing matches on television.
He was a Heavy Equipment operator by trade and had his own business.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Johnson, a brother, Lowell Johnson and a great granddaughter, Caroline Russell.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of seventy years, Javene Moore Johnson, whom he married February 23, 1943, in Pine Bluff; three daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Mike Harris of Pine Bluff, Sherry and Ronnie Heird of Hot Springs and Telesha and Rick Adams of Heber Springs; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Willie Thornton officiating.
The family will receive friends at Robinson’s Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to service time.
