Alma Guess

Alma Boyd Guess went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Trinity Village Medical Center.

Born February 27, 1925 to John H. and Flora Walter Boyd in Delhi, La., Mrs. Guess has been a resident of Pine Bluff since 1943 when she moved to the area to work at the Pine Bluff Arsenal during World War II.

She met the love of her life, Vernon E. Guess in 1946. They were married 40 years until his death in 1986.

First and foremost she was a mother and homemaker. Her kindness was shared with others through her involvement with Pine Bluff Welcome Wagon, South Side Baptist Daycare, and many activities involving her children. In later years she was active with the local Retired Military Officers Association.

Mrs. Guess was a dedicated member of South Side Baptist Church since 1943 where she served faithfully.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon E. Guess, her parents, and two brothers, Alton Boyd and John E. Boyd.

Survivors include one son, Alan P. Guess of Reno, Nev., and two daughters, Ellen Guess Haralson (Chuck) and Sandra Guess Poore (David) both of Pine Bluff as well as one sister, Janice Boyd Baucum of Monroe, La. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Shannon Poore Rubin, Amy Alford Hester, April Alford Marquart, and Vernon Todd Guess as well as two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in the chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son on Tuesday, April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend J. R. DeBusk and Reverend Todd Howard officiating. Burial to follow in the Bellwood Annex Cemetery, Pine Bluff.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, April 22nd from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
