Albert Gray Alley was born December 24, 1949, to the late Troy C. Alley, Sr., and Gladys Gray Alley in Pine Bluff, Ark., as their fourth child.
His early education was in Pine Bluff. He was a graduate of the Townsend Park High School class of 1967.
He later served in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 1972.
Albert earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff formerly known as A.M.&N College. He completed graduate studies from the University of Arkansas.
Albert married his true love, Jerelean McRae in 1984. He was a devoted husband and father.
He was employed by the Cotton Belt Railroad and later retired from the State of Arkansas Human Services Department.
After retirement, he continued working diligently with the community serving as an active board member of the Pine Bluff Boys and Girls Club, and a Trustee of Saint James United Methodist Church.
Albert was known for his jovial spirit, hospitality and love of entertaining. His famous fish fry and bar- b- que grilled cook outs will be missed by all. He was a passionate gardner and an avid fan of the UAPB Golden Lions.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Jerelean Alley, one daughter and son-in-law, La Shonda and James Talley, Jr.; one son, Jerrell Alley, two grandsons, Jacob and Jordan Talley; sisters, Janis Mitchell, and Ann Alley-Walker; brothers, Troy C. Alley, Jr. (Unnice); and Gerald B. Alley (Candice).
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Saint James United Methodist Church, 900 North University with the Rev. Dr. Henry “Hank” Wilkins, IV, officiating.
Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. at the Saint James United Methodist Church.
