Second teen pleads guilty in 92-year-old’s death

JONESBORO — A second teenager pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges in a pair of home invasions last year in Paragould, in one of which an elderly man was robbed and shot to death.

Lavell Branch-Griffin, 19, of Paragould pleaded guilty in Greene County Circuit Court to a charge of first-degree murder and two counts each of aggravated robbery and aggravated residential burglary, 2nd Judicial District Prosecutor Scott Ellington said.

His co-defendant, Rashon Webb, also 19, of Jonesboro, pleaded guilty to the same charges on Aug. 26. Both were sentenced to 92 years in prison.

They were charged in death of 92-year-old Clinton Mason and of robbing Brenda Botempo of Paragould at her residence, an attack authorities said took place about six hours before Mason was robbed and killed at his home.
