LITTLE ROCK — U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., has been named to the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, his office announced Tuesday.
Pryor said the appointment would be important to defense-related institutions in Arkansas, including Little Rock Air Force Base, the Arkansas National Guard, Pine Bluff Arsenal Red River Depot and Highland Industrial Park in East Camden.
“As a member of the (Senate) Appropriations Committee, one of my top priorities has been ensuring that our troops have the equipment, training and technology they need to safely and effectively conduct their missions and prepare for emerging challenges,” the senator said in a news release. “This position will give me even greater opportunities to secure funding for Arkansas’s service members, military installations and businesses and ensure our state remains a key player in our future national security strategy.”
Earlier this month, Pryor was appointed chairman of the Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee, a position he said would allow him to prioritize funding for Arkansas rural communities, farmers, ranchers and agriculture producers.
