LITTLE ROCK — The state Highway and Transportation Department chose the apparent low bidders on more than $109.5 million in road and bridge projects Wednesday, including $30.4 million to repair two bridges and repave nearly eight miles of Interstate 55 in northeastern Arkansas.
In all, the department chose the apparent low bidders on 63 highway and bridge projects.
Highway department spokesman Danny Straessle said the I-55 project in Mississippi County includes repairing two bridges and raising the height of the Arkansas 140 overpass at Osceola.
Along with paving, drainage structures also will be added, as well as guard rails. Erosion control measures also will be constructed.
Koss Construction Co. of Topeka, KS., was the apparent low bidder on the project.
Also Wednesday, the department chose the apparent low bid on a $17 million project to widen nearly seven miles of Arkansas 18 in Craighead and Mississippi counties from two to five lanes.
Asphalt Producers, LLC of Jonesboro was the apparent low bidder on the project.
