Campbell elected chairman of Lottery’s audit committee

LITTLE ROCK — John C. “Smokey” Campbell of Hot Springs was re-elected chairman of the Arkansas Lottery Commission’s Audit and Legal Committee during a meeting Friday.

The committee also elected Ben Pickard of Searcy as vice-chairman.

Along with electing chairman and vice-chairman, the committee also was briefed on the audit schedule for the next two fiscal years by Lottery Commission Auditor Mike Brown.

The commission learned earlier this month that the state lottery generated $89.1 million in college scholarships in the fiscal year that ended June 30, about 10 percent less than projected in the budget proposed the year before.
