Arkansas home sales, prices up in May


LITTLE ROCK — The number of homes sold in Arkansas last month was up 10 percent from May 2012, and the average price of homes sold was up 2.9 percent, the Arkansas Realtors Association said Friday.

The association said 2,515 homes sold in the 43-county area it surveyed in May, up from 2,286 from a year earlier. The average price of a home last month was $161,862, up from $157,362 in May 2012.

Benton County had the most homes sold last month with 428, followed by Pulaski County with 420, Washington County with 252, Faulkner County with 155 and Saline County with 128.

In Sebastian County, 108 homes were sold. Thirty-two were sold in Jefferson County.

The average home price for the month was highest in Pulaski County at $202,348, followed by Benton County at $191,290, Garland County at $177,622, Faulkner County at $174,401 and Carroll County at $173,340.

The average home price was $142,789 in Sebastian County and $96,317 in Jefferson County.
