UAM professor arrested for alleged indecent exposure, public intoxication, disorderly conduct

MONTICELLO — A Monticello professor was arrested early Thursday morning after he was seen walking along U.S. 278 West in Monticello wearing only his underwear, according to a Monticello police report.

Eric O. Buswell, a 47-year-old professor in the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s arts and humanities department, reportedly was walking along the south side of the highway near the U.S. 278 and U.S. 425 intersection at 6:15 a.m. wearing only his underwear.

“Mr. Buswell had slurred speech and was a little unsteady on his feet,” Monticello patrol officer Kyle Berryman wrote in his report.

When asked for his name, Buswell reportedly told Berryman “No habla.”

Later, upon his arrival at the Drew County Detention Center, Buswell reported that he was taking Lithium and Klonopin.

He was arrested for indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Buswell’s Thursday morning arrest came one day after he was arrested for DWI on the UAM campus. Buswell told police during that arrest that he had taken prescribed drugs, according to a police report.
