Jefferson County and Southeast Arkansas are under a freeze warning for late tonight and early Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service issued the warning Monday morning, citing weather conditions that could cause the first freeze of the season for the affected counties. Later in the day the warning was expanded to include all of Southeast Arkansas and much of central Arkansas and southwest Arkansas.
Temperatures are expected to fall to or below freezing in the warning area. The warning is in effect from midnight to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Freezing temperatures will damage or kill sensitive outdoor plants, crops and vegetation. Residents are encouraged to take precautions like moving potted plants inside or covering them with sheets or blankets. Outdoor water pipes should be wrapped, drained or allowed to run at a slow, steady stream.
