Because of a prior conviction for misdemeanor domestic battery earlier this year, a Pine Bluff woman arrested early Thursday morning could face a felony charge for a second offense.
Alexandria Geans, 28, had allegedly gotten into a fight with her boyfriend, John Carter Jr., at 2104 S. Elm St., Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Friday.
Kizer said police arrested both Geans and Carter after seeing signs of physical injury on both of them.
According to the police report, Geans had a busted lip and Carter had scratches to the face.
Kizer said Geans had been convicted of domestic battery Jan. 12.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Geans after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with second offense third-degree domestic battery, a Class D felony.
Kearney ordered Geans to have no contact with Carter until the case is settled and to come back to court Oct. 26.
The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Geans.
