Woman arrested after allegedly trying to hit man with vehicle

A Pine Bluff woman who was allegedly angry because her former boyfriend had broken up with her was arrested after she reportedly tried to hit him with her vehicle.

Raishaunda Hopkins, 23, was taken into custody at a house she had shared with the man after the incident at an apartment complex on Union Avenue, police said in a probable cause affidavit.

During a court hearing on Wednesday, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Hopkins had gone to the apartment complex and called the former boyfriend, asking him to come to the parking lot, where he reportedly told her the relationship was over and she “needed to move on.”

Kizer said Hopkins, who was in her vehicle, “got mad and accelerated the car, trying to hit him.”

The man reportedly jumped out of the way and Hopkins left. She was located later.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Hopkins after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with aggravated assault.

Kearney also ordered Hopkins to have no contact with the man until the case is settled, and told her to come back to court Dec. 19.
